It’s been like 3 months with my Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500, so far I used it only for daily commute, always felt like going on a long ride and the time has come. Like any
other newbie bike rider in Bengaluru I've chose Nandi Hills as my destination.
Nandi Hills is located at around 65 km from Bengaluru, know for its breathtaking sunrise view. Located at an altitude of 1,479 m above sea level, it’s
considered to be one of the highest peak in south India.
I started at around 4:30 a.m in the morning and maintained not more than 60
km/h until I reached the Yelahanka highway (NH7) and in not more than 5 minutes
I felt the bone chilling cold of Bengaluru’s foggy winter mornings, being my first ride this
was my first lesson, felt it was a bad idea to ride in such condition because I didn't wear proper gear, but I rode anyway. Didn’t exceed more than 60 km/h due to severe wind-chill factor.
Finally I reached the peak at around 6:00 a.m, bikes aren't allowed inside, had to take a walk to the view point and by the time I reached it was 6:30 a.m, too late for sunrise view at the
horizon, nevertheless, view from there is something very beautiful. Without any further delay, I took out my DSLR and started shooting whatever I felt like shooting, this ride was not just about my bike, it was also about practicing photography with my Nikon D7100, played with all of its settings while enjoying the scenic views.
Nothing much to see there except from children’s park, a temple which I
didn’t go and monkeys of course. Once I started feeling the heat I started my ride back to
Bengaluru, was able to hit more than 100 km/h, felt really happy that my bike could handle it very well with only slight vibrations, made me confident enough to plan for more rides.
